35 waste-collection vehicles
The Zambia Somali Friendship Association donated 35 waste-collection vehicles to Lusaka and Ndola, and we also took part in efforts to combat the cholera outbreak in Zambia.
Yesterday, we officially handed over 35 tipper trucks and 2 front loaders to the government in Lusaka. 25 vehicles were allocated to Lusaka, and they started work immediately yesterday and today. In Ndola, we allocated 10 tipper trucks and 2 front loaders.
The handover was conducted at the Office of the Vice President, and the event held yesterday was a success.
Unity is very important. As a peaceful and well-organized community, we achieved this support through our unity to help the people we live alongside. I would like to thank everyone who participated and contributed.
Humanitarian aid donation
COVID-19 to the Government of Zambia, specifically in Ndola
The Zambia Somali Friendship Association donated assistance intended to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to the Government of Zambia, specifically in Ndola.
The donation included firefighting-type vehicles designed to spray and disinfect residential areas and markets in Ndola, as well as cleaning chemicals and many other related items.
The Government of Zambia expressed its appreciation for the mass cleaning campaign carried out by the Somali community.
Donated a package
The Zambia Somali Friendship Association donated a package consisting of fuel, mealie-meal, hand-wash soap, hand sanitizers, face masks, modern foot-operated water tanks, and other equipment used in the fight against COVID-19 to the Government of Zambia.
On behalf of the government, the donation was officially received by the Office of the Vice President, represented by the Minister in the Office of the Vice President, Hon. Olipa Phiri, MP.
On the community’s side, the handover was conducted by the Chairman of the Somali Community in Zambia, Mohamud Mohamed (Hiiraan), accompanied by members of the community.
The Government of Zambia stated that Somalis in Zambia are very good people who consistently stand in support of the Zambian government and its citizens.
In turn, the Chairman of the community assured the Minister that the Somali Community in Zambia will always stand with the government and the people of Zambia.
